HOSPITAL BAG CHECKLIST

We've helped pack thousands of hospital bags. And we know a little thing that makes a big difference.

When the due date is approaching, having your hospital bag packed can bring a surprising amount of peace of mind. This checklist includes the essentials – and a few little extras – to help you feel a bit more prepared for the big day.

For the birthing parent:

Health card / maternity records and ID

Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, hair ties, deodorant, etc.)

Lip balm and moisturizer (hospital air is dry!)

Comfortable clothes (preferably nursing-friendly)

Underwear and nursing bra

Warm socks and slippers

Phone + charger (long cord = lifesaver)

Snacks and drinks (easy to eat, energizing)

Earplugs and eye mask

A blanket or scarf from home for comfort

Birth plan (optional)

For the partner or support person:

Comfortable clothes and underwear

Toiletries

Food and snacks (silent chewing = bonus)

Water bottle or travel mug

Phone + charger

A small gift or surprise for the birthing parent (optional, but always a win)

Something to read or pass the time

For baby:

Onesies and outfits (2–3 sets)

Hat and socks

Blanket or swaddle

Car seat (must be installed before going home)

Diapers and wipes (most hospitals provide these, but good to have ready)
