The story of KAOS KLAPP®

Born in a small apartment in Oslo

The idea for KAOS KLAPP® came when we had our second children and suddenly realized: two bulky high chairs didn’t fit around our tiny kitchen tables! We needed an ergonomic high chair that could grow with the child, save space, and still look good in our Scandinavian homes. We couldn't find one, so we decided to make it.

From idea to icon – together with Ole Petter Wullum

We teamed up with the Norwegian designer (and father of five) Ole Petter Wullum. Ole Petter was especially focused on giving children a sense of mastery: letting them climb up, sit down by themselves, and feel proud of it. His inspiration for KLAPP® came from something as simple as a staircase – a place that invites movement, flexibility, and different sitting positions.

After four years and countless prototypes, KAOS KLAPP® was born. The result? An award-winning high chair that combines timeless design, functionality – and sustainability.

For all ages

KLAPP can be used from birth with the KAOS Newborn Seat and easily adapts as your child grows with smart accessories. The chair itself holds up to 110 kg, making it useful all the way until the child decides to switch to a regular chair.

Designed like a ladder

KLAPP has three fixed steps that make it easy for children to climb up independently and find their place at the table. The steps provide constant foot support and encourage an active, dynamic sitting position.

Foldable and space-saving

KAOS KLAPP is the original foldable high chair on the market. It folds flat in seconds and measures just 13 cm deep when not in use. The chair is also designed to be stackable – one of the reasons it has become a favorite at cafés and restaurants such as Joe & The Juice, Lagkagehuset, and Gail’s Bakery.
