The Story Behind KLAPP Recycled

After launching KAOS KLAPP® in wood in 2019, we saw the need for a more robust version that could better withstand everyday mess, travel, and outdoor use. Producing in virgin plastic was never an option, so we took the harder route: developing KLAPP® from 100% recycled plastic. Together with partners NG Group in Finland and Wicro in the Netherlands, we turned this vision into reality.

Materials & Design

KLAPP Recycled combines the easy cleaning and durability of plastic with the natural stiffness and warmth of wood. Made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic blended with clean wood fibers, it is free from harmful chemicals and certified for use in the baby gear industry.

Its unique cloudy finish gives it a distinct Scandinavian look, while the five-part construction makes it extremely easy to clean. Suitable for indoor and outdoor use, it withstands moisture far better than wooden chairs.

A Sustainability Hero

Compared to virgin plastic, KLAPP® Recycled cuts CO₂ emissions by 63%. Even better — the chair itself can be recycled up to nine times within its own loop, giving it an exceptionally long lifecycle. That’s what makes it a true sustainability hero.
