It is time to change how we produce, consume and dispose of the plastic we use.
For decades, the baby gear industry has been using fossil plastics in the development of all the baby gear out there. I mean, can you imagine how many plastic fantastic car seats, strollers, general baby equipment, and baby furniture are not only flooding around but are still being produced yearly?
Can you imagine how many plastic fantastic car seats and strollers are out there?
These items are manufactured and sold by huge brands to millions of families, and they are used by millions of babies all over the world. Once the child has outgrown the product, or if the product gets broken, there is no circular handling. Instead, these items turn into waste and contribute to increasing the massive plastic waste problem in the world.
Today, we humans produce more than 400 million tonnes of plastic waste every year. As a producer of baby equipment and being parents ourselves, we are determined to create a change. We need to protect our kids’ future. At KAOS, we call it responsible parenting.
Since our launch in 2015, we have developed 21 products that make life today easier and promote a better future for our kids. We have taken home several medals from International Award Show for our work. And we have been fueled with willpower and grit to keep pushing, setting new standards.
Our next product launch is a total game-changer. We’ve kept the same design and functionality from our award-winning high chair currently made from FSC certified wood, and we’ve translated it into a new version where the entire chair derives from 100% recycled plastic waste.

Together with Fortum Waste & Recycling in Finland, we have tailored the material to maintain the properties needed for strength and stability in KAOS Klapp high chair. The raw material derives from consumer waste plastics, carefully sorted and qualified by Fortum. To make the recycled plastic stronger, we’re adding a certain % of wood fiber (hyper clean pulp). In addition to adding strength, the fibers give a beautiful aesthetic, and a warm touch & feel to the material.
The material has no harmful chemicals, it complies to the EN 71-3 Toy Standard.
KAOS supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on the journey towards a low-carbon society.
The recycled edition of KAOS Klapp high chair has loads of benefits. The molds for KAOS Klapp high chair allow us to recycle 2000 tonnes of plastic waste, and turn it into stunning, award-winning high chairs that can be used the entire childhood.
In addition, the material can be recycled an additional 9 times! So if a Klapp high chair is for some reason broken, it can be recycled again and again, making new Klapp high chairs.
We guarantee transparency and and sustainability throughout the production process. According to formal LCA (Life Cycle Analysis), KAOS Klapp from Recycled Plastic has:
The climate change impact of KAOS Klapp Recycled Plastic is, on average, 43% of that of virgin granulates.
