7 tips for the kids room

These tips make it easier to create a magical kids room.

The kids room is the kids space and should feel safe and cozy and both inspire to play and encourage them to be creative during the daytime, and it should feel like a calming place at night time. The most challenging thing about a kids room is probably all the things that should fit into a rather small space. Here´s our tips for creating a safe, inspiring and not least practical kids room.

1. Create a good atmosphere with colors

Kids love colors. Avoid painting the kids room in white and grey, as kids are stimulated by having colors around them. Choose warm colors to create a warm and safe atmosphere. It is important to keep in mind that children grow fast and that the kids room should grow with the child. Kids items are normally colourful and bright, so try to avoid too many colors on the walls. At least make them match as good as you can.

Feel free to let the kids choose their own wall color, but remember to limit the selection to the ones you think can work and which are a bit timeless.

2. Keep things organized

Kids rooms are often filled to the brim with toys and stuff. If you have too much clutter, it will make it difficult for the kid to choose and to start playing. Make sure you get rid of toys that they have grown from and is no longer in use and done to others. Create enough space for the toys that your kids need right now, that engage and stimulate.

3. Encourage to play

Kids have a lot of energy! Goofy carpets, car lanes, and twisters are some tips that can turn an otherwise dull floor into a fun playground. And try to equip the room with activity tools, such as a Wobble Board, a wall bar, rings and similar.

4. Physical activity is important for children

The Norwegian Directorate of Health recommends at least 60 minutes of physical activity daily. A wall bar is brilliant for activating children indoors and KAOS Endeløs is probably the most brilliant wall bar on the market.
Kids start climbing even before they are two years old, and when they get tired of it (after some years) you can easily rebuild KAOS Endeløs to better fit new phases of life. Put some bold mattresses under the wall bar and let the children climb and unfold.

5. Make room for creativity

Kids are creative, let them unfold! A kids’ room should have a place to sit down to draw, paint, pearl, and puzzle. There are many nice little tables and chairs for kids’ rooms.

6. Teach the children that everything has its own space

Teach the children where things should be and make it easy for them to join in on the clean up. Kids are good at making a mess, but they can also be good at cleaning! It’s easy to get organized if everything has its own place.

7. Create a calm and cozy sleeping environment

Children need peace of mind when sleeping. So keep in mind where to place toys and furnitures in relation to the child’s sleeping area. Try lying in the cot yourself and see how the room is experienced. Toys that may appear creepy in the dark should be placed outside the viewing angle from the sleeping area. Keep the books easily accessible and provide plenty of space for reading in bed, with enough lighting.
